Biography

Rakish Paddy, a spirited ceilidh band, comes equipped with an optional, well-informed, and inspiring caller—a crucial element for an evening filled with lively and enjoyable dancing.

Established in 2006, Rakish Paddy was founded by a group of friends who had collectively honed their professional musical skills in various combinations over the years. The band showcases a blend of guitar, fiddle, and bass, and for those seeking a grander ensemble, there's the option to include piano, drums, whistle, and accordion (refer to booking options for details).

As well as performing Traditional Irish music, they can also include some Scottish and Country music in their set too; with styles ranging from a delicate melody to a storming sound.

With a reputation for punctuality and professionalism, Rakish Paddy effortlessly creates a marvelous atmosphere for any party or gathering. We booked rakish paddy for our wedding fairly last minute. We decided we wanted to have a ceilidh band quite late and there were not too many available, so we picked these guys. No regrets, I think we were very lucky to get such a good group! Ruth got in touch early and talked to us a few times in the run up to sort out all the details and check what we wanted. On the big day they turned up in good time and were quick to say up. The caller did an excellent job with a mix of very poor dancers, many of whom didn't speak English! This was the perfect thing for us and would thoroughly recommend them!

From the beginning they were so helpful and friendly, adding in more country songs (as I knew our audience would love it!), learning a new song for our first dance and ensuring they did reels for my auntie to showcase the ‘brush dance’ ! On the night the dance floor was packed, and my guests exclaimed that they felt just as if they were in an Irish pub! Great music, lovely people, highly recommended! Ruth and Rakish Paddy are brilliant. If you’re looking for some fun and upbeat Irish Music then look no further. They performed a fantastic set for us on the beach and it was everything and more that we had imagined. Despite playing early on in the wedding day within no time people were up and dancing and having a brilliant time. Booking and communication was super easy and Ruth was more than happy to have a call with us the week before which was a lovely introduction. Hope to see you play again soon.

We spent a long time looking for the perfect ceilidh band for our wedding – everyone kept telling us ‘you have to make sure you get one with a good caller!’ Choosing Rakish Paddy for the Big Day is one of the best decisions we made – not only did we get that good caller, who had everyone up on their feet and having a whale of a time, but the band also added in musical sections at either end of the set, which brought a real folk feel to our room in Central London! They can’t come highly recommended enough. Not only are they astonishingly good musicians, they’re wonderful people to liaise with, and make the admin side of things a joy. Hope we can dance to your tune again soon, Rakish Paddy!
