Biography
Formed in the early months of 1997, Gypsy Rogues emerged when a collective of the Midlands' most adaptable musicians united in what began as a modest project driven by pure enjoyment.
Described by one newspaper as "raw, endlessly energetic Irish folk," this quartet delivers a rich tapestry of tunes and songs, both contemporary and traditional, catering to a wide-ranging audience. Whether they're playing at weddings, Irish functions, or local bars, Gypsy Rogues' musical flexibility ensures they're a perfect fit for any occasion. With over a decade of musical entertainment experience, they consistently deliver events of the highest quality.
In just three years, Gypsy Rogues transformed from four individual musicians to producing their own CD, "A Fuller Picture," which generated such high demand that it sold out in advance sales alone, thanks to their fan base. They've packed theatres with self-produced Irish shows complete with dancers, headlined the esteemed Bromsgrove Folk Festival, and graced the stages of numerous others. From performing for around 2000 people on Millennium night in London to entertaining an estimated audience of 5000 at a music festival in Birmingham's Cannon Hill Park, Gypsy Rogues has left an indelible mark on the music scene with their electrifying performances.
Gypsy Rogues have also graced private functions for esteemed institutions including Loughborough, Birmingham, Aston, and Leicester Universities, as well as Birmingham Focus, Transco, British Airways, and Amnesty International. They've also delivered standout performances at venues like Derby County FC, Aston Villa FC, Birmingham City FC, West Midlands Safari Park, and Bristol Rugby Club.
